What’s most important is the cause! You will be raising money for Marie Cure and Cancer Research UK. Below is a bit of information about what your involvement in this fun filled fitness event is going to help.

Cancer Research UK
Cancer Rersearch UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research and is the only charity fighting over 200 different types of cancer; at both a national and regional level, from the most common cancers; such as breast and lung, to rarer types; like pancreatic and children’s cancers. Our supporters help fund the 4,000 doctors, nurses and research scientists across the UK that develop pioneering new ways to diagnose, treat and cure cancer. Through events like Swimathon, we are able to fundraise for research into cancer which makes us the single largest funder of cancer research in the UK.

Marie Curie
By taking part in Swimathon, you’re helping Marie Curie care for people like Gordon and his family. Our nurses helped Gordon, who had oesophageal cancer, spend his final days in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loved ones. It was his final wish. Grace, his daughter, said: “The nurses looked after my dad and were friendly. They knew when the time had come and gave us space to say our goodbyes”.“After my dad passed away, they sorted everything and did not leave until we felt comfortable. I will never forget what they helped us through and we couldn’t have done it without them”.
