WNPS Novel Corona Virus, Covid-19 Update 21st October 2020

Following the announcement from the First Minister on Monday 19th October 2020, it is with sadness that Wales National Pool Swansea will again close from 18.00 on Friday 23rd October.

Whilst the lockdown is currently due to be lifted on the 9th November, Welsh Government have alluded to further restrictions when the lockdown is lifted and these are yet to be announced.

We are planning to reopen on Monday 9th November at 06.00, however we will need to do so in accordance with the restrictions which may be placed upon us at that time. Further information will follow as soon as we have a clearer picture.

As we are pausing the programme until we can recommence, we are not offering refunds at this time but will extend upfront memberships by the number of days for which we are forced to be closed. We will also be reducing the DD payments which will be collected on the 1st November and will contact all DD members in due course. At this time we plan to resume normal DD collection on 1st December 2020.

Please continue to follow our website or social media platforms to stay up-to-date on any changes

Thank you for your continued custom and we look to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

Please stay safe and take care

16th October 2020 Update

It is widely anticipated that at some point next week (following an announcement on Monday by the First Minister) Wales will be entering a stricter lockdown, the so called “firebreak or circuit breaker” lockdown.

Whilst we do not know what that will mean (and even if it will happen) we have decided that we will only take bookings for slots up until the 13.00 – 14.30 on Friday 23rd October.

We have no more information for you at this time but will update you next week as soon as any further news is received from Welsh Government.

Take care

Important update from Wales National Pool Swansea

Changes to Welsh Government guidance mean there will be additional spaces for swimming from Monday October 19. This includes additional evening slots. These will be updated onto our website over the next few days.

From this date we are also extending the period members can book in advance to seven days, although members remain limited to three sessions a week due to the current heavy demand. To reduce pressure on the reception team we will be releasing the 7 day slots from 09.15 on Sunday, this will hopefully allow customers to book up to 3 slots in one call. You may have to wait until someone is available to answer you call, however they are stacked in the order they come in and are answered in turn. This does however mean that we will not be booking slots for the week commencing 19th October until Sunday 18th October.

Non-members can book the day before if there is a space available.

We are very aware that the current phone booking system is far from ideal but rest assured we are working hard behind the scenes to improve this and reduce the hold times.

The current system places pressure on our reception team and also causes frustration for customers.

We thank you for your patience and we will update you when we can but we must remind all members and customers that verbal abuse of any staff is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

With so many swimmers looking to use the pool you can help us by cancelling sessions that you unable to attend and giving us at least 24 hours advance notice.

Unfortunately there are people booking spaces and then not attending which is unfair on other members.

To address this we are operating a three strikes policy whereby if a customer fails to show then their membership will be suspended and they will be unable to book for 14 days.

Naturally if you begin to show any symptoms of Covid-19 you must not attend any booked session but let us know and this will be taken into account.

From 19th October we will also be making available a lane for fins and paddles use where the 25m split is available for use.

Please refer to our revised booking terms and admissions policy

Thank you again for continued support and cooperation.
